The Lead Pastor serves as the exemplar to the congregation through both word and deed. They are responsible for the primary teaching and preaching of God's word, cultivating the church's culture, and nurturing and training leaders. Additionally, they shepherd the congregation, cast vision, oversee church structure and management, and engage the community for Jesus Christ. Key responsibilities include:
- Commitment to Prayer:
- Personally practicing and guiding the congregation in a vibrant prayer life.
- Utilizing Elders, Pastors, and lay leaders to develop an effective prayer ministry.
- Inspiring vision, overall direction, and values through prayer in various settings.
- Leading the development of strategies aligned with God's calling in collaboration with Elders, Staff, and Congregation.
- Preaching and Worship:
- Crafting worship services, including sacraments, in conjunction with the Worship Director and Teaching Team.
- Providing strong, Christ-centered pulpit ministry for life transformation through gospel-oriented, biblical truth.
- Supervising the rotation of preachers to offer a diverse preaching experience.
- Visionary Leadership:
- Championing the City Harvest transformational model and the purity and unity of Christ.
- Collaborating with elders and staff to define and inspire vision, direction, and values.
- Planning strategic directions for the church in coordination with church leaders and staff.
- Leading the leads and directors to model healthy interactions and achieve organizational goals.
- Overseeing staff recruitment, retention, and performance evaluations.
- Pastoral Shepherding:
- Directing and monitoring the congregation's shepherding by elders, pastors, and other leaders.
- Developing a discipleship plan for elders and staff to equip them for their roles.
- Implementing church discipline with grace, wisdom, and biblical integrity.
- Missional Engagement:
- Modeling evangelistic and missional witness to increase Christ's witness in the community and world.
- Collaborating with other local pastors to enhance unity and witness in the community.
- Maintaining relations with church bodies on shared interests.
- Additional Duties:
- Collaborating with the General Board to create meeting agendas and conduct annual training for potential board members.
- Ensuring regular ministry reports are provided to the General Board
- Fulfilling other assigned duties as needed.
